Backyard Bunnies

A 4-H group working hard to learn about and be good guardians of rabbits.

Backyard Bunnies 4-H group works hard all year long.  Our ultimate goal is to be able to show our rabbits at the Beaver Community Fair in September.  This year the Beaver Community Fair runs from September 18, 2011 to September 24, 2011.  Our rabbit show is on Monday September 21, 2011 and starts at 6:00 pm.  We have a 4-H and FFA meat pen and single fryer competition.  We also have 25 different breed classes one being "other" just in case someone brings a breed not specifically listed.  We also have 4 4-H and FFA showmanship classes, Novice, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior.

We work very hard as a 4-H group the rest of the year too.  We do community service projects.  This year we spent time at Graysonview Assisted Living in Selinsgrove Pennsylvania.  We will also visit The Manor at Penn Village with our bunnies.  Our last service project for the year will be painting at the Beaver Community Fair grounds.

We complete our 4-H project books.  There are activities in our books that teach us all about our rabbits but there is also a record keeping section so we know how much time and expense we have in our bunnies.

We do a lot of fun things at 4-H.  We do a winter activity every year.  Sometimes that means we go ice skating with the 4-H group or we go bowling.  We've even gone roller skating.  This year we are going to have a summer picnic with the 4-H club.

These are just some of the things we do with our club.  If we wanted we could do County or State wide things.  4-H camp is one of the most fun things we get to do.
